In our day-to-day lives as Interior Designers and Home Stagers, we get to see ALL kinds of houses. Houses built in different eras, houses with quirky features, houses with interesting colour schemes…
We were recently invited to fully stage an entirely blue house. Pastel, baby / lilac blue. Blue on every wall. Never a more blue house have you seen. It’s blue da-ba-dee-da-ba-di. You get the picture.
Now luckily, we love a ‘challenge’.
The building itself is an incredible, large family home on a flat section with a beautiful modern kitchen and storage space for days… perfect! While blue to many is a calming, restful colour, we realise that it may not also be the backdrop of preference for some.
Recognising that the choice of decor may pose a barrier to potential buyers, we set out to detract immediate gaze away from the walls as much as possible. Using light & bright furniture and accessories that complimented the scheme, we were able to shift focus away from the dominant, potentially controversial background, and onto the proportions of the space and the room this incredible house has to offer.
When is a blue house NOT a blue house??… When it’s staged by Sojo.
At Sojo Design we approach every house differently rather than with a one-size-fits all approach, because what works in one home may not suit another! Roll-top arms and heavy florals will not look right in a modern apartment; just as stainless steel and hard edges would look out of place in a character home.
We are so happy with the end result with this project! The final product is a beautiful fresh and open space that holds appeal to even the most discerning of buyers, taking something that could be viewed as ‘off-putting’ and turning it into a soft, appealing feature.
